Awaiting the return of Lionheart

It has been 30 days since Chris Jericho disappeared from WWE programming. For those of you who were wondering what happened to him – Chris Jericho denigrated the Brazilian flag when the WWE was touring the country, which led to law enforcement officials stopping the show. Chris apologized to the fans present immediately and the show was allowed to go on . However, Chris was suspended for 30 days for his actions. Jericho has been counting down the days on twitter like only he can, and we are finally at the end of the month. Jericho is set to return to RAW this Monday. But the question is, how?

Chris Jericho was just sowing the seeds for a highly interesting feud with Randy Orton before he was suspended. However, in the meantime, Randy has also landed himself in a 60 day suspension for his second violation of the Wellness Policy. This leaves Y2J without a potential opponent.

The rumor mill has been spinning for a long time, saying that Jericho is set to return as a face. At a time when all the faces in the company, including the WWE champion CM Punk, are going through a severe trough, Jericho’s return would be a welcome relief. However, Jericho’s face runs are short and far spread out to be of notice. The last time he returned as a face was in 2007 when he interrupted Randy Orton’s passing of the torch ceremony. But no doubt face or heel, Jericho has that unique ability to make every match, every promo, every feud, every interview, every comment interesting. Why?

Because he loves to entertain.

However he returns tomorrow, let us hope that WWE Creative doesn’t mess it up like last time. Jericho’s feud with Punk, though it featured some great promos and even greater matches, lacked one important factor. Credibility. Jericho had no credibility anywhere in his last run, whether it was against Punk or gunning for Heavyweight gold. How can you expect someone to be a credible threat if the only guys he can pin happen to be people who never held a World title? Jericho was just a whining crybaby last time, hardly a position we real fans want to see one of the all time greats in. Just like Christian was when he feuded with Orton for the World Title last year.

This Monday, the true Best in the World at whatever he does returns to RAW. And Monday Night Raw will never EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER be the same again.

Big Johnny Fired!!!

No Way Out had one huge moment that will be cherished by everyone for a long time.

After John Cena defeated the Big Show in a steel cage, Big Johnny was fired as per stipulation. But would the WWE just let it go like that? Hell no!!!

Johnny came to attack Cena using his crutch, but Cena ducked and lifted Johnny up on his shoulders. The Mr McMahon took a microphone and shouted those patented words everyone wanted to hear for a long time.

John Laurinaitis, YOU’RE FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As much as I hate Cena winning, you can’t help but feel ecstatic at this great moment. And then, Cena delivered the Devil’s parting gift, as an Attitude Adjustment onto the Announcer’s Table.

FINALLY, the People Power era is OVER!!!

But one can only imagine if Laurinaitis’ removel has come about due to the TNA-WWE lawsuit which clearly implicates Johnny.

No Way Out Results

Ladies and Gentlemen, WWE No Way Out has come and gone. Although it didn’t have a number of great storylines heading into it, nor did it feature great matches, it did hold some important points.

Now, the results:

  1. World champion Sheamus defeated Dolph Ziggler to retain his title.
  2. Santino Marella defeated Ricardo Rodriguez in a Tuxedo Match.
  3. Intercontinental Champion Christian defeated Cody Rhodes to retain his title.
  4. Titus O’ Neil and Darren Young ( The Prime Time Players) defeated The Usos, Epico and Primo, and Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd to become the #1 contenders for the Tad Team title.
  5. Layla defeated Beth Phoenix.
  6. Sin Cara defeated Hunico.
  7. CM Punk defeated Kane and Daniel Bryan to retain the WWE championship.
  8. Ryback continues his crushing streak.
  9. John Cena defeated the Big Show in a Steel Cage Match by escaping the steel cage.

Why is John Cena Still at the Top???

C M punk may be the WWE champion as of now, Sheamus may be the Heavyweight champion now, bu there is only on man atop the WWE ladder and his name happens to be John Cena. This statement could have been used anytime in the past 8 years, modifying the names of the champions, but the name of John Cena would have stayed there, immovable. Truly, when Heraclitus said that nothing endures but change, he forgot to account for John Cena.

John Cena has been main-eventing WWE for nearly 6 years. It never seems to matter if he is the champion or not. Wrestlemania 28, Extreme Rules, Over the Limit, and now No Way Out. This is the fourth straight PPV that Cena is headlining, and that is when he is not even a champion. Trust me, if it wasn’t for the Royal Rumble match and the Elimination Chamber match, Cena would have headlined those PPVs as well.

I was never a fan of Michael Cole but he did have a valuable point two weeks ago on RAW when he interviewed Cena. Cena is overrated. Highly overrated. In fact, he is being pushed to the point of being a modern day Hulk Hogan. Hulk’s gimmick worked huge back then, but trying to replicate the same thing with a man who is being booed on a daily basis is sheer stupidity. Cena is being forced down our throats, as he has been for the past 6 years. For anyone out there who who thinks Punk is the poster boy for the WWE now, sorry to wake you up from your dream. Punk is not the poster boy. He never has been. ( But should he be the poster boy? Hell yeah). While John Cena is here, there never will be another poster boy, there never will be another main-eventer.

I am not against John Cena. I can never be against John Felix Anthony Cena. But I am against the gimmick of John Cena. Why? Because he has gone stale. Way too stale. His gimmick hasn’t changed one bit in 6 years. come to think of it. In that time CM Punk went from being the Straight Edge Superstar (face), to the Straight Edge Savior (heel) to the Nexus Ringleader (heel), to being the Voice of the Voiceless (anti-hero)  and finally the Best in the World(face). Just saying….

I hope Big Show wins inside the steel cage at No Way Out, because that will fire John Cena, but knowing the WWE, that will never happen. Perhaps a double cover or something???

Has C M Punk Lost Steam ?

C M Punk is the hottest commodity in the WWE now. There is no point arguing with that. But how many of us feel that C M Punk has lost steam ? This article is about my view on why Punk really needs to try and reinvent his game.

In June last year, CM Punk took the microphone and sat cross legged on the stage, and delivered what is considered by many as one of the most historic rants in all of WWE history. In that six minutes, Punk ripped WWE management and John Cena consistently and broke the 4th Wall to smoke. Since then, Punk has catapulted himself into super stardom. Punk has won the WWE championship on multiple occasions since then and is currently the in a reign that has long surpassed 6 months. The last time someone held the Championship for so long was Triple H in 2004.

Just when everyone thought Punk was going to be another Cena who rises above hate, Punk added another layer to his character in his feud with Chris Jericho. Punk beat Jericho in a highly personal battle twice, and retained his spot at the top.

Then came Daniel Bryan. Two of the best technical wrestlers in the company today going head to head in a much awaited battle. And at Over The Limit, they put on one of the biggest wrestling spectacles of maybe all time ( but to me Punk-Jericho at Mania was still the best). It was then that I feel WWE creative messed things up.

CM Punk tapped out to Bryan at Over the Limit. Everyone saw it. Hell Punk admitted it as well, but he tapped out after he pinned Bryan. So he is still the legit WWE champion. Whether it was planned or unintentional, I cannot say, but WWE got a new angle. Why not try to do a Submission Match angle? No. Instead, they choose to add AJ to the mix. I mean why the hell? What does AJ want? CM punk does not need a female escort at all. That would ruin his character. But still she is in the mix. And wait, that’s not all. Kane. Kane is in the mix as well, but certainly, why? The only time I liked Kane was when he feuded with the Undertaker over the World Title. adding Kane to the jumble was a mistake if you ask me.

Anyway, this Sunday at No Way Out, Punk’s title is in serious jeopardy. Let’s wait and see what happens…

WWE News: John Laurinaitis Replaced

Last week, there were some backstage changes in the way WWE managed its corporate affairs. It was informed via the WWE.com site that John Laurinaitis, currently on-screen General Manager of both RAW and Smackdown was removed from his position as Executive Vice President of Talent Relations. Big Johnny now solely holds his on-screen roles, but he still plays a role in booking matches with the WWE creative team.

Now news has come out that Triple H has replaced Big Johnny as the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations. Triple H is currently heading the Talent Wing and is Senior Adviser to the Chairman. One can only wait to see what Triple H brings forth in the reformed wing.

Brock Lesnar : The Next Big Heel

I would say WWE has at last found its way back Starting from Wrestlemania 28, WWE programming has taken on a whole new dimension and it looks a lot like the good old times.
One man to thank for this is Brock Lesnar. Brock returned to the WWE after 8 years the night after Mania to a thunderous ovation and went ahead to drop Cena to an F5. The two continued to brawl for weeks to come, and Cena never got the upper hand. But Cena prevailed at Extreme Rules. But Brock did something Cena couldn’t do in his life. He made WWE interesting again.
WWE thrives on heels. Heels make the program interesting. And I am not talking about the modern day heels like the Miz and Alberto Del Rio who make people snooze and wonder when the guy will leave. I am talking about the baddies we all hated. Yup, I mean hated. We would want to rip them to pieces and spit on them any chance we got. That is what makes a heel. Triple H was a great heel. The last worthwhile heel came in 2008 and he was Randy Orton. Then heels just got boring.

Not anymore. Enter Brock Lesnar. Brock made an impact in his first month back, and he has got himself a reputation among the fans and the IWC as a maniacal guy who doesn’t care for the lives of his co-workers. Brock appears to deliver his offense MMA style, and that makes him very lethal. Plus his fatal Kimura lock looks like it can really break an arm. That is why when he locked Triple H in it  ,every one, including me, rushed online to see if it was really broken. Was it? I don’t know, but it doesn’t seem likely. But Brock is making us hate him, and making us think that he is really breaking jaws and arms and cutting people up. That is the believable aspect that makes a heel, and so Brock is the Next Big Heel.

Think he is gone? Some do, but not me. Brock is just taking time out. Brock is supposed to face Triple H at Summerslam or maybe sooner, and while Hunter is busy selling his arm injury, Brock left, leaving his promos and all with someone who can actually handle a mic, and that is Paul Heyman. So be ready to see the Brock-Heyman duo back…
